Our Mission
Our mission is to stabilize, revitalize and rebuild Detroit neighborhoods. We had been achieving this by demolishing, renovating and boarding up blighted homes for community use, building community partnerships and sponsoring events that cater to low to middle-income families in Detroit.
Our Story
Detroit Blight Busters' founder John J. George saw the negative energy brought about by blight in his neighborhood in northwest Detroit in 1988. He began to demolish and board up one of the blighted homes and got his neighbors to join in. Blight Busters was born out of this initiative. The continued blight removal sparked opportunities and hope in the northwest neighborhoods of Detroit.
